christmas is in the air

my housemates and i have been getting in the christmas spirit. we're all missing out on decorating with our families back at our houses, so we've been decking out our little apartment together instead. we have a tiny tree, stockings for each of us, holiday candles, and of course one of those paper chains that counts down to christmas day just like we used to make in kindergarten. it's been really fun to decorate together and has been making us feel more and more like our own little family.

life is good

the giants won the world series, we've finished our midterm and our power-point project for this class... things are looking up. and whether or not you're happy with the results of the election, at least there will be an end to those annoying phone calls from activists right around dinner time every night. to go along with all this positivity, i am happy to report that apartment life is going extremely well. it took some time to get settled into a comfortable routine, but my three house-mates and are getting along well and have been able to establish a way of living together that everyone is happy with. one suggestion i have for anyone looking to move into an apartment in the near future is to figure out rules and roles early on. it took us a couple months to figure it out, but once we set up a system to get chores done in common living areas, divided up the purchasing of certain groceries and other items we all share, and set dates to get the bills paid, things in food house have been better than i could have hoped. now that school is getting more and more stressful with projects and essays piling up, it is good to have a home base where i am comfortable and happy to come back to.
